Some new things
Wednesday, July 11, 2007
Recently I have added some interesting files to the site, and wanted to share them with everyone. I have added some nice VNC servers, giving you the ability to access your PPC from any computer on a network. Just go to the file site and search for "VNC". Also, I have added DOSBox to the file site. It is an amazing application that will allow you to run all of your older DOS based applications on your PPC. Best of all, its free! Finally, take a moment to check out Isotope 244's new "Machines at War" demo. It is in beta, but looks amazing. It is a Command and Conquer style game with stunning sound and graphics. If you play it, take a moment to go to Isotope's web site, located on my "Links" page, and fill out their survey. That will give them the opportunity to make the game what the users hope it will be.

Finally, I'm still working on updates to the site. I haven't given up on the forums pages, but I have not done anything new with them recently. Also, I will be adding a date feature for the files, so that they can be searched by "Newest Listed". I think this will help people find things easier, instead of searching through all of the same things every time.
Thanks for stopping by, Chris.

File site update.
Tuesday, July 3, 2007
I finally updated the file site so that software that runs in landscape mode shows the image correctly. Up to this point, the screen shots would be squished into the portrait size, distorting the pictures. Hopefully this will make viewing the applications a little easier.
Happy 4th of July to those of you who observe it. Take care.

Back to work.
Monday, July 2, 2007
It has been a couple of weeks since I did any real work to the site. I was taking a vacation from work and considered this work, too. I'm back at it now, and have already added some software to the downloads section. I have been trying to find more interesting, and unique software that isn't readily available on every other PDA site, and have discovered that broken file links are all over the place when you start searching for older titles. I'd like to say that you should never have a broken file link here. I host all of the files that I offer for download right on the server. If you do ever try to download a file, and find it won't download, e-mail me. I will fix it as soon as possible. I realize that my download speed is slower than most, but I'm trying to make up for that with an interesting collection of software.
As a side note, I'm still working on the forums pages, and may have that ready for the public soon. I appreciate everyone's patients, and your visits. Take care.

Happy Father's Day!
Sunday, June 17, 2007
I hope everyone enjoyed their Father's Day, whether your a dad, or have one.

I have slowed down on my updating of the site. The weather is beautiful here, and I like to get things done outside when the weather is good. I have been tinkering on the forums lately, and still hold some hope for getting them up and working before to long. I haven't done too much more on the PDA pages, but I will dig into them as soon as I decide how I'm going to do the direct downloads page. I keep adding software to the site, I'm just moving a little slower these days. I'm trying to find software that isn't readily available everywhere else. That is pretty much everything at this time.
Take care,
-Chris

Standing at the Crossroads.
Monday, June 4, 2007
I was in the process of making the forums public, and realized that I must upgrade some of my domain settings for it to work. I haven't decided if I want to spend the money on these "features", but if I do, I will probably be adding some ad banners to the site. I don't expect them to make up the cost, but hopefully the will help ease the expense a little. I hope this won't distract from the experience of using the site.
Take care,
-Chris

Under Construction
Friday, June 1, 2007
For those of you that have visited the site in the past few days, I'm sorry for the mess. I have been working on the pages, and I never seem to think about backing them up first. At any rate, I have switched over to a 1024x768 format. I have some space to fill up, and I'm not exactly sure how I'll do that but I'll figure something out. I have added some more software titles, cleaned up the review pages, and made a cleaner image viewer for the images located there. I recently downloaded open source forum pages, and I will start configuring those soon. I started making PPC pages, but there is still much to do on those. Thanks for stopping, and keep checking back. I'll be doing updates and improvements as much as time allows.

Work continues...
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
I was using the file section of the web site the other day, and decided that it would be nice to be able to view a larger version of the screen shots. If you would like to view the image life sized, just click on the image. Please understand some of my earlier screen shots are actually thumb-nail sized so they don't look nice enlarged. I also had trouble with the Handheld PC's screen shot software, so some of those are only the left 2/3s of the screen. I will update those images as time allows. In the mean time, please forgive the unpolished images that you may stumble on.

Some of the other items that I'm working on that I forgot to list last time:

I will probably switch the page layout to 1024x768. I originally went with an 800x600 layout, but it is out dated.
I also want to build a section for handhelds to connect to using a 240x320 layout.

Thanks
-Chris

The future of this site and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
Thursday, May 10, 2007
Well the site has been running public for a few weeks now, and I must say that I'm excited about all of the traffic the site has gotten so far. I have many things that I'm working on to enhance the site in the hopes of making it an even better tool for everyone to access. I'd like to share what they are, and would love feedback if you would like to give it.

· Work is still continuing to complete the forums site. I would love to have this operational so everyone has a place to
  meet and discuss.
· I have updated the file site with a couple more "File Types". I would like to have the search tool in the file site be
helpful, not a hinderance. Suggestions on search criteria would be appreciated.
· I will work on some more reviews. I currently have several applications that I have been working with, and I just need
to put virtual pen to virtual paper.
· I am trying to locate a Win 2003 handheld device so that I can test newer apps. Currently I have no way to verify any
software thats newer than Win 2002. On that same note, I have been neglecting the Palm software because I have a
Palm IIIc, and I can not test very much with that either.
· I have located some nice developer tools and I'm considering developing pages specifically for that. Drop me an
e-mail if that would be of interest to you.

I believe that is the bulk of my current projects. I need to test some more applications and get them on the site, I have fallen behind on that process as well.

Take care everyone, and wish your mother a Happy Mother's Day this Sunday.

We are officially a public site!
Tuesday, April 10, 2007
Hello World! We are officially open for business. I finally decided that things were "Good enough" and bought the domain name. I look forward to everyone's comments, so please feel free to click on the "Contact us" link on any of our pages. I'm a solo act, so I will try to get back to everyone as fast as possible, but if this becomes a hit with everyone, hopefully I will be very busy.

A big "Thank You" goes out to Ryan who has assisted with much of the design and coding of these pages. I hope everyone enjoys the site.

File sites are up and running.
Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Good news! The file sites are up and running. I have a nice, but small, selection of software available at this time, and have much more to sort through. As soon as I have more files sorted, I will make them available. If you are looking for specific items, or have something you would like to add to the archives, please click on the ''CONTACT US'' link. I am very behind on the Palm OS applications because I didn't have a device to test the software on. I have recently acquired an emulator so I should be adding more Palm files soon.

Welcome to LegacyHandHelds.com
Monday, March 5, 2007
So it has begun. This site has been setup to offer a single location for users of older hand held devices. Our intention is to offer files and forums that will allow you to get the most of your older device, with out the hassles of searching all over the internet. We believe that there is still a lot of value in these older hand helds, and with the proper support and software, they are still powerful tools.

More features will become available as time allows us to update the site. Please be patient. It will be worth the wait. Enjoy!
